Writing Knowledge Work Plan
Writing Knowledge Work Plan
This note records the current plan for finishing the paper terminology, concept-language, findings, figures, and section-outline knowledge work before drafting the paper section by section.
Phase 1: Finish Concept Cleanup
Clear the remaining TODO-* notes by either integrating them into existing concept notes, promoting them into new atomic concept notes, or deleting them once their content has a home.
Initial disposition:
| TODO note | Planned action |
|---|---|
TODO-operational-def-strategy-variable.md | Mostly covered by latent strategy, strategy alignment, and cross-input notes. Ingest remaining theory-facing parts into a recovery/theory language note. |
TODO-problem-statement.md | Promote into a new concept note on the strategy-structure recovery problem. |
TODO-failure-mode-reconstruction-neq-excess.md | Integrate into Base-directed reconstruction objective as motivation: reconstruction NLL does not measure information from beyond on a stable scale. |
TODO-semantically-consistent latent-variable decompositions.md | Mostly covered by Cross-input semantic consistency. Ingest the remaining -dependent latent-permutation point into a theory/recovery language note. |
TODO-solution-framing-adaptivity.md | Split between Problem framing and Base-directed reconstruction objective, then delete the scratch note. |
Recommended order:
- Create the strategy-structure recovery problem concept note.
- Ingest theory language from
path:paper/theory_section. - Patch remaining motivation fragments into existing notes.
- Delete TODO notes once their content has a durable home.
Status as of 2026-05-04: the writing TODO notes listed above have been promoted, integrated, or removed. The remaining work is to review the resulting concept notes for paper-level consistency and then proceed to findings, figures, and section outlines.
Phase 2: Theory Language Ingestion
Create a focused writing concept note, likely writing/concepts/strategy-recovery-theory-language.md.
The note should record weak recovery, strong recovery, recovery distances at the writing level, profiled ELBO margin language, and the role of complexity/simple-router-generator bias in selecting globally meaningful latent structure. The note should cite path:paper/theory_section as source material but should not replace the formal theory files.
Phase 3: Findings And Figures
Update the claim and figure planning notes using the settled terminology.
Targets:
- revise Claims, especially outdated language around reconstruction metrics and method variants;
- update figure notes, especially the reconstruction/alignment frontier figure, with base-relative reconstruction , residual surprise explained by , alignment-reconstruction frontier, and the figure labels ELBO, -ELBO, global scale, token weighting, global + token, and token inverse;
- decide the main-body versus appendix figure set.
Phase 4: Section-By-Section Outline
After the concept language and findings are stable, populate writing/sections/ with high-level section planning notes rather than prose drafts.
Candidate section notes:
01-introduction.md02-problem-statement.md03-methodology.md04-experiments.md05-theory.md06-discussion.mdif needed
Each section note should record the section purpose, concepts required, claims delivered, figures used, and open writing decisions. It should not yet be a full prose draft.
